Global Leadership Summit

Last Friday and Saturday around 250 leaders from the Gold Coast and beyond gathered for the Global Leadership Summit (GLS).  We have the privilege of hosting this world class leadership training event every year.  As I have been in previous years, I was so proud of and thankful for our leaders and volunteers who led and served conference delegates with such excellence.  Special thanks and recognition goes to Elizabeth Danes (Event Manager), Lyndal Mayhew (Event Producer) and Craig Hindman (Music Director).

We have a copy of the DVD of all session of the event which can be borrowed by small groups.  If you would like to, please contact Liz McNamee (liz.mcnamee@newlife.unitingchurch.org.au)

This Sunday @ Newlife

This Sunday morning at Robina (8.30am and 10.15am) Stu will continue our exploration of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians (Ephesians 5:1-14) as we investigate what it means to live as light.

At Pac Pines (9.30am) Orrell will again reflect on the radical hospitality of Jesus in his encounters with many and varied people over meals in Luke’s gospel.

At 12two (6pm), Ralph will challenge us to take up the Weapons of our Warfare – our spiritual gifts – as we engage in spiritual battle.

Baptism Opportunity

On Sunday November 20 we will be celebrating Thanksgiving Sunday as we look back over the last year and honor God for all he has done in our midst.  As part of our celebrations we would like to offer the opportunity for people to celebrate new or new found faith through baptism or reaffirmation of baptism at our Robina services (8.30am, 10.15am and 6pm).  If you would like to find out more, please contact me (stu.cameron@newlife.unitingchurch.org.au), Melissa (melissa.lipsett@newlife.unitingchurch.org.au) or Ralph (ralph.mayhew@newlife.unitingchurch.org.au).

Free Families Sausage Sizzle

Last weekend a bunch of families stayed back after our 10.15ams service at Robina for a free sausage sizzle near the courtyard playground.  You are invited to do the same!  Of course coffee and tea will still be available in the courtyard and our wonderful café, Coffee @ Newlife, will still be serving wonderful light meals.

Our Children Thank You!

Last week, as well as last Sunday at Robina I raised the critical need that has arisen out of God-breathed growth in our children’s ministry.  Every Sunday morning at Robina we have the amazing privilege of welcoming 150 children and young people to worship.  Around a dozen of you responded to the challenge to volunteer for our Kidzlife and crèche ministries.  But still we need more!  As I have said, without more leaders the quality of our care for our young people will be compromised.  If you can help out on the crèche roster, please contact Sue Cameron (suecameron1966@hotmail.com).  If you can help with Kidzlife, please email Viv Batt (viv.batt@newlife.unitingchurch.org.au).

Sermons Podcasts

Last Sunday morning at Robina, Pastor Melissa Lipsett preached a wonderful message on the power and challenge of forgiveness.  You can download Melissa’s message to listen to it here:  www.stucameron.typepad.com/

Morning service sermons can also be downloaded via our iTunes podcast - simply search for Newlife Uniting Church in the iTunes store, subscribe with one click, and sermons will download automatically to your computer every week!

On Sunday night at 12two, Ralph preached on the spiritual gifts of prophecy, words of knowledge and encouragement.  You can hear this message, and all messages in the Weapons of Our Warfare series at http://www.ralphsblog.net/

Food Still Needed!

We have had a wonderful response to our request for food to restock the Newlife care Food pantry. Thank you! Having said this, our need still remains.

Newlife Care does an amazing job distributing food to families in our community who are doing it tough.  Our emergency food pantry is still running short of some non-perishable goods, in particular long life milk, canned spaghetti, baked beans, canned vegies, coffee, 2-minute noodles, rice, and canned meat. If you have spare room in your trolley, we would really appreciate your support. Please contact Con Graves on 5593 3262 or drop into the office during the week.  You can bring food on Sunday and leave it in especially provided baskets in the church foyer.

Prayer Points

Every week we want to provide you with some prayer points to help guide you as we partner together win bringing our thanks, praise, adoration and requests to God.

• We thank God for the wonderful training opportunity that 250 leaders had at the Global leadership Summit.  We pray that they will be able to apply their learning in such a way that the cause of the kingdom is advanced.
• We thank God for the wonderful start that our Pacific Pines campus has enjoyed.  We ask God to raise up and for us to identify people who are willing to serve as musicians, sound operators and as other members of the Pac Pines team.
• We thank God for our Kidzlife, crèche, MAD, Funkidz, Kids with Courage, Kids Hope, RE and other volunteers who work with and minister to children in our church and community.  We pray for God to challenge and raise up more leaders for this critical ministry.
• We pray for all worship services this weekend – Crossroads, Youthstreet, Pac Pines, Robina and 12two – that all that happens in each would glorify God and draw people to Him.
