Newlife Uniting Church

Thursday 1, September 2011

Father’s Day @ Newlife

This Sunday morning (7.30am, 9am, 10.45am) we will celebrate Father’s Day with music, communion and as we reflect on what it means for Jesus to be ‘just like his father.’  Why not invite someone in your family who does not normally come to church?

Special Guests @ 12two

We will be hosting some very special guests on Sunday night at 12two (6pm.).  ‘Ponder’ are an acoustic duo from Sydney who will be leading us in worship and song.  We will also meet an amazing man, Dr Sasa, who is 28 years old, speaks six languages, mixes with the poorest of the poor, as well as with royalty as he seeks to minister in Jesus’ name.  His story is an inspiration!

Fiji Crisis

I shared last weekend that the Methodist Church in Fiji, a partner church of the Uniting Church, is in crisis as the Fijian military ‘government’ continues its policy of harassment and persecution.  Our good friend Bruce Mullan at UnitingWorld knows well the issues.

Bruce’s reflections on his recent visit to Fiji can be heard here: http://www.radioaustralia.net.au/pacbeat/stories/201108/s3303438.htm.

UnitingWorld has just released a Press Release on the Fijian crisis which can be viewed here: http://www.unitingworld.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Fiji-Methodists-Press-Release-Aug11.pdf

Here is a site that gives ideas and opportunities to advocate on the Fijian Churches behalf. http://www.unitingworld.org.au/participate/advocacy/fiji-methodists/

Our Story – God’s Story

Last Sunday morning Ralph continued our Just Walk Across the Room series.  In an inspiring message, he explored how when our story, the story of others and God’s redemptive story are interwove, spiritual sparks fly.  He shares some amazing stories of God’s providential grace. You can listen to Ralph’s message here:http://www.stucameron.typepad.com/

Pac Pines Preview Service 2

We have already held one very successful Preview service for our Pac Pines campus and our second one is just around the corner – on September 11 at 9.30am at Jubilee School, Binstead Way, Pacific Pines.  All your need to know about our Pac Pines campus can be found at: http://newlifeuniting.com/contact/pacific-pines/

Peter Pollock @ Newlife

Peter Pollock will be our special guest on September 17-18.  Peter is a South African cricketing legend who not only played test cricket but also captained his country.

Peter will be speaking at a Men’s Breakfast on Saturday September 17 at the church.  Tickets are $15 and are available at the church office or the Info Desk on Sunday.

Peter will also be speaking at all three Sunday morning services (7.30am, 9am, 10.45am).  This would be a great weekend to invite to church those you know who do not yet know Jesus.

New Mums Group

A group for new mums will be beginning on September 16 in the Lakeside Lounge.  The group will meet from 9.30-11.30am and will provide an opportunity to gather for friendship, support and encouragement with other young Christian mums. We will also share a devotion and pray together as the children play (toys and activities provided). It will be happy chaos! Morning Tea will be provided (BYO children’s food requirements).  Of course our Coffee @ Newlife menu will also be available. Let Tammy Templeton 55 690031 or Viv Batt 55 789322 know if you are interested in attending or would like to know more.
