Newlife Uniting Church

One Church – Two Locations!

What a fantastic weekend, as last Sunday Newlife became One Church meeting in Two Locations with the launch of Newlife – Pacific Pines and the changes of our service times.  Actually, with our Family Camp being held at Tyalgum over the weekend we were one church meeting in THREE locations on Sunday morning.  Over 850 people attended all our services on Sunday.  We praise God that everything went so smoothly and that there was a real sense of anticipation as we move into a new and exciting season as a church.

Pac Pines Launch

Orrell and the team led a wonderful time of celebration as we officially kicked off our weekly services at Newlife- Pacific Pines.  We praise God for the 135 people who attended, which included the pioneers who will establish this new community, ‘visitors’ from Newlife – Robina as well as a stack of people looking for a new church home.  Please continue to pray for our Pac Pines team as they meet and seek to integrate into our community the people God is drawing.

This Sunday

There are some fantastic things happening at church this Sunday:

At Robina on Sunday morning (8.30am and 10.15am) we will continue our journey into Ephesians as we explore the rich tapestry that is the diversity of the church (Ephesians 4:7-16).  I (Stu) will be preaching.

At Pacific Pines (9.30am) Orrell will continue to explore some of the encounter Jesus had with people over a meal, as recorded in Luke’s gospel.

At 12two (Robina – 6pm), Ralph will continue our Weapons of our Warfare series, digging deeper into our knowledge of the gift of speaking in tongues.

GLS – Register Now!

The Global Leadership Summit is just around the corner (October 21-22).  We have the privilege of hosting this world-class event every year.  I strongly encourage you to attend.  We have heavily subsidized the registration fee to $70, or $60 concession.  Registration forms are available at the Info Desk on Sunday in the office during the week.

Food Needed!

Newlife Care does an amazing job distributing food to families in our community who are doing it tough.  Our emergency food pantry is running very low on non-perishable goods.  We are really short of a few staples including long life milk, canned spaghetti, baked beans, canned vegies, coffee, 2-minute noodles, rice, and canned meat. If you have spare room in your trolley, we would really appreciate your support. Please contact Con Graves on 5593 3262 or drop into the office during the week.  You can bring food on Sunday and leave it in especially provided baskets in the church foyer.

Podcast Problems

A number of you have contacted me to let me know you have been unable to download sermons from my blog.  (www.stucameron.typepad.com/)   Unfortunately I am having some hassles with my blog host which I am attempting to sort out.  I hope things will be sorted out soon!

Prayer Points

We have the amazing privilege and responsibility of bringing our praise, adoration, requests and petitions to God in prayer.  Here are some prayer points to guide you:

• We thank God for the wonderful opening celebration at Pacific Pine last Sunday.  We pray for those who were newcomers and pray that with God’s help we will be able to assist them in finding a spiritual home with us.
• We thank God for the wonderful connections made at Family Camp over the weekend.  We pray that new relationships would deepen further.
• We thank God for the wonderful connections we have with our local school chaplains and the seminar this week that Newlife Care  hosted for them.  We pray for their vital ministry in our community.
• We thank God for the family we enjoy in belonging to  the Uniting Church in Australia.  We pray for our  Queensland Moderator, Reverend Kay Ronalds and our General Secretary, Shirley Coulson.
